One killed in three-car crash on U.S. 36 near Lyons

One person was killed in a crash at about 6 p.m. Sunday involving three cars at U.S. 36 and Longmont Dam Road near Lyons, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Corporal Ivan Alvarado said a Porsche, Honda CRV and Toyota Highlander were involved in the crash. The state patrol was still investigating what happened, he said.

The driver of the Porsche was killed. No information about the driver was available.

A child was taken by helicopter to Children‘s Hospital with serious bodily injuries, while a woman, man and child were taken by ambulance to Longmont United Hospital, Alvarado said.

U.S. 36 was closed between Apple Valley Road and Estes Park while the Colorado State Patrol investigated, he said. The closure is expected to continue for another two to four hours.
